I found this video as I was looking back at the web pages from which I obtained some of my information and saw a link to this. This gives a more visual aspect in explaining how the oil is damaging the food chain.
This is a great video! I'm also writing on the oil industry, specifically off-shore drilling's effects on the economy. You hear about the crisis and the effects it will have for years to come but that always seems to slip my mind. This has brought about the scary realizations
I find it terrifying that this issue is not not drawing near enough of the attention that it deserves. 15,700 species being threatened with extinction because of this spill. That punctures a great hole in the food chain and could negatively effect countless species outside of the Gulf, certainly including human beings (many people are economically dependent on species in the Gulf of Mexico).
This is what makes your topic so important, and I am glad that you cover these issues in such a bright and informative manner. If people do not see above their greed, then This is the one home that we humans have in the universe. When it is destroyed, so are we.
i’mablogger, I assume that you can analyze this material effectively with the background of offshore drilling through your post. I hope that by reminding you about these detrimental effects from this video that you stay informed and active on this issue!
Sparky McDolspienker, I really like how you relate the effect on the species in the Gulf to being further affected as the complexity of the food chain grows into a food web, ultimately involving humans. I appreciate your complementary remarks and completely agree that we have only one environment to sustain us, so we should preserve and take care of it or we really are destroyed!
